A Love Letter to Our Neighbors

We believe in being good neighbors. The founding members of Shadow Mountain Nature Park live in the Shadow Mountain community. As the Conifer area becomes an increasingly popular destination for development and urban sprawl, we want to protect the open space we have left while we can.

We realize that the Shadow Mountain Meadow may not remain meadow for much longer, and now is the time to take action to preserve and protect this pristine wilderness that we love to call home.

Our proposal would meet the requirements established by the Colorado State Land Board charter while limiting the impact to you and our fauna friends that call Shadow Mountain home. We are proposing limited, sustainable, responsible access to the meadow that will allow us to preserve this area for generations to come.

Our Vision for a Nature Park

Access to the Shadow Mountain Nature Park will be by reservation only and will offer only guided and permitted programs. This will allow our staff to limit the amount of people on the site and monitor and control the activities taking place there. Our plans include limited development of the site, including a small structure for offices and classrooms, a small surface parking lot (fewer than 50 spaces), and outbuildings that can support maintenance operations. Visitors will be required to check in at a guarded gate before proceeding onto the site.

We strive to be partners in this endeavor. We will perform thorough due diligence for site plans and will be receptive to your concerns, questions, and feedback. We hope you will support us as we work to save the meadow and cultivate the next generation of environmental stewards.

It takes a village — tell us you support this effort by sending us an email

We love our wild neighbors, too
